Here in the age of the movable, mutable, instantaneous--an eternal staccato of experiences--even art often becomes a quick dish, its consumption brief yet still satiating for the ravenous appetite. Like all things shared, art may served to us both ways, as a carefully orchestrated and protracted offering or there in a flash and quickly fleeting. Perhaps the delivery changes how we savor it. The makeshift art production is made worthwhile when it can harness the energy of improvisation. The creative surge felt in the instant of raw inspiration birthing the image, poem, melody or drama is the inspiration for the swift collaboration and coalescence of interests to form the modern day pop-up art show. It is an opportunity to seize upon the moment, share works of art and bring together the voracious and curious alike in a multi-dimensional one weekend event.
Tea Roots is launching its Pop-Up Art Show series, starting with our first themed show this December, Little Boxes, featuring poet and playwright Genny Lim as guest poetry editor. Lim will curate the poetry reading held on Opening Night, December 10, 7 - 10pm.
